Where have you been Leyla?

Well, today looks like some planet alignment has occurred and I'm here, sitting on my favorite corner trying to write some cool stuff about last days, and as you can imagine by "last" I mean from July, which was the last time I wrote, to now (that covers quite a few interesting stories to tell).

Let's see, most important day of the year was awesome (Aug 15th, my birthday, of course), had dinner the day before with roommates and a few other friends at La Alhambra, a wonderful bar we discovered in the city center. Then on my real birthday I baked a pineapple upside down cake (volteado de piƱa) and Minys made some sancocho. Everything was quite tasty and I had a wonderful day. At night we went for a walk to the center, Plaza Mayor was beautiful at night (and those who have been there with me, know how much I love the place).

Around those days I met a magician. Well, doctor and part time magician (not a weird combination if we consider that magic and medicine have had a close relationship through history). I had never met a professional magician and I got to learn a few things about magic. But well, he disappeared before I could learn the trick of the cut in a half woman (not that I was going to volunteer though). This guy is, by far, the weirdest person I've met this year.

During August I had a wonderful time enjoying the summer schedule on my office and having the whole afternoon free. Spent some time at the park, walking around and enjoying the weather while having a beer on the terrazas. But as every year, September came by, and my internship was over. Had a delicious farewell lunch the day before and then on my last day my colleagues prepared a surprise breakfast for me. I even got a gift and job recommendations. Also, Marivi was here!! That was for sure the best thing of the summer, we had so much fun showing her the city, going to museums (btw I finally went to the Thyssen, quite an experience, specially for the Van Gogh paintings in there, could probably be my favorite museum in Madrid just because of that). We spent her last night at home talking, as in the good old times. Maybe I already said this at some point, but I will say it again in case I haven't: family and friends are a wonderful thing, specially when they are as awesome as mine.

These free days have been quite cool, I have re-discovered my "passion" for baking and cake decorating and have also been able to share that with friends (my roommates are very happy as you can imagine) and earn some money from it (which is always a good thing). Also I've read a few books (unfortunately counting the Fifty shades trilogy), and I'm currently trying to finish, like for the tenth time, "Sophie's world".

This is all for now, hopefully I'll be writing again soon. May the force be with you all!
