Plop!

Sometimes, just sometimes, life chooses to shake things up to get you back on track or teach you things you really need to learn. Personally, I would prefer not to learn the hard way (who the hell wants that anyways?), but that´s the magic of life and it´s ups and downs.

The cool thing in this case, is that for whatever reason, it has taken me back here, writing. I had forgotten how much I enjoy this, I´ve been reading my old posts and see how much I have changed overtime. Myself, my beliefs, the things that matter....im definitely not the same person I was when I started this. However, it is always a great thing to remember from where you come from, what your dreams were or still are (not everything has to change), and what is it that moves your world.

Im not sure if I am where I´m supposed to be yet, but I guess this is part of the road and I have decided to enjoy it and get the best out of it.

Pipol, have a wonderful week!

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger...

...or fat (at least that's how we say it here in DR "lo que no mata engorda"). It's a wonderful and quiet Saturday night, just came home from a party and I thought it would be nice to write a few lines.

I have realized that everything that happens in life is for good. Sometimes we can't know it at the moment, but as Steve Jobs once said "you can't connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards". I came back to Santo Domingo, found a wonderful job...and my life is as I like it to be: full of activities.

Let's go back a few weeks ago when I started looking for a job. I applied to a few before I had a call from one of them. Though I did have the interview, they never called back. I'm not sure if it was because I forgot one of my former supervisor's name and came up with the first one I thought or because my niece suddenly started crying like crazy.

But ok...life goes one, I thought, so I continued my job hunting. And I found one. Very fast. I really can't complain. One Saturday I was working at a clothes store with no hope to get a new job and a week later I was flying to Mexico to get my training on the new position. The company is really cool, and though I work a lot, sometimes at home, I really enjoy what I do.

These days I've been exercising quite a lot. I'm doing Zumba on the weekends and training on weekdays, sometimes at home and sometimes at the park. My energy has increased and I'm very happy (well, I'm usually very happy). It has increased so, that little by little I'm going back to cover all the activities I used to cover, like the blog, working/studying (starting German classes on Monday), going out.....(well, I still don't go out that much, but I'm getting used to live in DR).

One interesting thing that happened recently was a high voltage at home and both TV and Radio were damaged, between other things. Since then we spend the weekends aftenoon in family playing board games, specially Rummy. So, as you can see "no hay mal que por bien no venga".

This week I learn something very important about life. On Tuesday we celebrated my mom's birthday and also, my cousin Ofelia gave birth a beautiful girl. So that night we quite good reasons to celebrate. On the other hand, that same day, one of my colleagues had to face the death of his grandmother. It seemed to me very curious that while one celebrate life, other have to struggle the loss of a dear one. What did I learn? Life is really short and time goes by really fast. There is no time to loose so is very important to live as much as you can, we have to "sacar el jugo a cada día" (do as much as you can in a day).

Well my friends, that's it for now. I hope your lives are as well as mine. Remember that everyday is a new opportunity to create, to get closer of those things we want in life. Have a nice week everyone!

How do you measure three years of your life?

Small acts of kindness...

(A. Exupéry)

It's a beautiful life

It's Sunday night, cold and windy, but still a wonderful night. I met my friend David, and a few others for drinks at La Latina. I enjoyed a short and pretty cool walk back home. I'm quite thoughtful these days and today I finally understood that no matter what, or where I am, happiness depends on me.

Recently, and I know I'm suddenly changing subject, I read this somewhere in Google+, and, considering that I like all this stuff (those who know me, know how corny I can be), I thought I had to share it with you, my friends:

“Never look for a good face

it will turn old one day.
Never look for a good skin,
it will wrinkle one day.
Never look for a hot body,
it will change one day.
Never look for nice hair,
it will turn white one day.
Instead, look for a loyal heart
that will love every day.”

Ancient wisdom? Not sure, but in this world where almost everyone cares just about the outside, it's always good to stop, and think about what you're caring the most.

I'm sorry. Yesterday I fell asleep before I could click on publish (which is an usual thing)......but well, I guess that's part of being me. (So somehow it's a wonderful thing heheeh)!!
